With all of the scheduled Day 2 events wrapped up today, entries have been finalized. The final entry list for the Main Event of the 2023 WSOP stands at 10,043 (as of July 9, 2023 3:00 AM GMT-7, Pokernews), easily surpassing the previous record of 8,773 entries set at the 2005 WSOP and marking the first time a waitlist exceeded 10,000 entries.
Today’s Day-2d saw 1,819 players out of 3,652 advance to Day 3, including 68 players from Japan and South Korea. There are now 3,663 players remaining from Day-2abc and Day-2d combined, who will face off on Day 3.
The Avg. Chip Stack is 164,000, with Japanese player Shiina Okamoto holding the chip lead with 428,000CHIPS. It will be interesting to see if she can follow up her Ladies Event Runner-UP finish with another victory. GG Ambassador Nana Sanechika, Natural8 Ambassador Tsugunari Toma, and bracelet winners Jiyoung Kim, Ryutaro Suzuki, and Calvin Lee have also qualified for Day 3. Day 2 of the $1,500 Bounty Pot-Limit Omaha Event has concluded. Fifteen players have advanced to Day 3, including Japan’s Shota Nakanishi. Heading into Day 3, all players have secured $8,215 and a $500 per player Bounty Prize.
South Korea’s Taehyung Kim finished the tournament in 25th place, followed by Wooseok Kim in 115th place, and Japan’s Bokuto Kagami in 138th place and Hiroki Nakagawa in 143rd place. Current survivor Shota Nakanishi continued his deep run on Day 2, eliminating Alex Manzano and Mihails Morozovs, but entered Day 3 with a below-average 278,000 CHIPS (7BB). His current Avg. Chip Stack is 2M.
