Poker Dream 6 Malaysia concludes with a new record-breaking prize pool

Poker Dream 6 Malaysia, which took place in Malaysia, has concluded its 10-day schedule.

Place: Genting Highlands Resort, Pahang, Malaysia

This series, held at the Genting Highlands Resort situated at an elevation of 1,700 meters, saw participation from numerous Asian players, including those from Malaysia, the Philippines, and Hong Kong. Additionally, players from Europe and Oceania, such as the United Kingdom and Australia, also journeyed to Malaysia.

Poker Dream Sets New Record in History

Main Event

Date: August 15th, 2023 ~ August 20th, 2023

Buy-in: RM1,700 (approximately $500), RM3,400 (approximately $1,000), RM5,100 (approximately $1,500)

Entries: 1,453

Prize Pool: RM4,777,318 (approximately $1.38 million)

The Main Event held in this series guaranteed a prize pool of RM4 million (approximately $11.5 million), the highest ever for a Poker Dream Main Event. With significant participation, the prize pool eventually increased by around 20%. This prize pool surpasses the previous record set by Poker Dream Taiwan by approximately 200 million Korean won. Moreover, the number of entries also set a new record for the highest entries in any previous Poker Dream Main Event.

The winner of this Main Event, which broke numerous records including the highest guarantee and largest prize pool, was Loo Soon Yung from Malaysia. Yung claimed his career-high prize of RM818,000 (approximately $240,000), marking his second victory this year.

Diverse High Roller Events

The Malaysia series featured a variety of high roller events.

The winner of the Super High Roller, the largest buy-in event within the series, was Kean Wei Tan. Tan had been the Runner-Up in the previous Dream Stars event at Poker Dream Taiwan, which was the highest buy-in event there, losing to Oh Junseok. However, in this event, Tan secured victory, claiming his first trophy and a prize of RM 648,000 (approximately $190,000).

In the Mystery Bounty High Roller event, conducted with the Mystery Bounty rule, Lee Sai Mun of Malaysia emerged as the champion, capturing his first title along with a prize of RM 175,000 (approximately $50,000). The Mini High Roller event, which adorned the series’ finale, saw Yap Guan Leong from Singapore taking home the trophy and a prize of RM 107,945 (approximately $31,000).

The next destination for Poker Dream is Hoi An.

Poker Dream’s next destination is Hoi An, Vietnam, where the second series took place in October of last year.

Poker Dream 7 Vietnam

Date: September 29th, 2023 ~ October 8th, 2023

Place: Hoiana Resort & Golf, Hoi An, Vietnam

The main event of this series will have a similar scale to the main event of the recently concluded Malaysia series, with a guaranteed prize of ₫20B (approximately $11.2 million), and a multi-buy-in system will also be applied.

Furthermore, starting from September 20th, one week before the series, a 5-day Preseason In Hanoi will be held at the Grand Vista Hotel in Hanoi. During the Preseason, Poker Dream announced that participants will have the opportunity to join Day-1 of the main event held in Hoi An, along with various side events being prepared.
