The COLOSSUS event, one of the most beloved events at the WSOP, has come to a conclusion. The $400 Buy-in tournament recorded an astonishing number of entries, surpassing 15,000 participants, and featured thrilling battles for the coveted prize pool of $501,120 (approximately 72,350,000 ¥).
Dae Woong Song from Korea go on heads-up against Moshe Refaelowitz for a bracelet but unfortunately finished as the runner-up, earning a prize of $300,410 and achieving a career high. He is a young high-stakes player at the age of 28. His most recent career high was achieved in the 2022 EPT High Roller Event, where he finished in 5th place and won $255,939. However, today that record was surpassed. In 2020, he made a name for himself in the Korean poker scene by winning the Main Event at the J88PT tournament. Since then, he has consistently cashed in major international tournaments and gained recognition by appearing on Korea’s poker show ‘War of Gods – Ragnarok’ (available to watch on YouTube: 2ACE channel), reaching a wider audience.
DaeWoong Song participated in Day 1B with a good chip stack and successfully advanced to Day 2, where he even became the overall chip leader at one point. He made it to the final table as the fifth in chips.
DaeWoong Song eliminated bracelet holder Ian Steinman and won significant chips in a hand against Pete Chen, the second-ranked player on Taiwan’s All Time Money List. He continued his deep run and eventually found himself in a heads-up battle against Moshe Refaelowitz from Israel.
With pocket Kings (KK) and completing a set, DaeWoong Song claimed a large portion of Moshe Refaelowitz’s chips, briefly taking the chip lead.
However, he suffered a defeat in a subsequent hand, finishing as the runner-up and securing his career-high prize money.
