The 2023 APT Incheon Main Event Sets Records as the Largest in APT Korea Series History

The 2023 APT Incheon Main Event has been hailed as one of the most successful events in the history of the APT Korea Series, boasting the largest prize pool among all the previous main events.

Running from August 25th to September 3rd, a total of 73 events took place, attracting over 1,100 players from around the world, resulting in an overall prize pool of approximately 8.5 billion KRW.

The winner among the 930 entries was Shoichiro Tamaki from Japan, who claimed the top prize of 270 million KRW and the coveted Golden Lion Trophy. Prior to this victory, he had only one ITM (In The Money) record, with earnings of just $413 (approximately 490,000 KRW).

However, this win not only marked his highest-ever prize money but also propelled him into the top 60 of the Japan All Time Money List. Tamaki expressed his gratitude, saying, “Something truly significant has happened in my life. I’m thankful to everyone who supported me on my journey to victory.”

The 2023 APT Incheon Main Event set a new record as the largest in the history of the APT Korea Series, with a substantial increase in entries, almost doubling compared to the previous year.

The APT Incheon series has consistently seen growth each year, with increasing entries, prize money, buy-ins, and guarantees.

The 2023 APT Incheon series attracted players from around the world, including renowned players like Thailand’s All Time Money List leader Punnat Punsri and France’s All Time Money List leader Bertrand Grospellier.

In terms of nationality, Japan dominated the series, with 192 Japanese players participating, making up 34.1% of the total participants. While Japan secured the most titles with 25, Hong Kong, which won 12 titles, demonstrated strong performance relative to its number of participants.

The year is set to conclude with the 2023 APT Hanoi Billions in December, running from December 1st to 10th. The Main Event of this series will feature a staggering VND25 billion (approximately 1.4 billion KRW) guaranteed prize pool.

Notably, this series will be held at the National Convention Center in Vietnam, a change from previous venues. Given the scale of this upcoming series, it is anticipated that many Korean players will participate as the year draws to a close.
