Reiji Kono is a player who has had a tremendous two years on the tournament scene after scoring his first ITM at the 2021 WSOP, according to The Hendon Mob.
In 2022, he won the APT Player of Series at the APT IN Incheon at the Paradise Hotel in Incheon, South Korea, where he won the Mystery Bounty, finished 3rd in the Main Event, 5th in the Single Day High Rollers, and 11th in the NLH EVNET.
He also reached a new career high by winning the WPT Prime Cambodia Main Event in March 2023, marking his first ITM in 2023 with the title of Main Event winner.
The champion hasn’t been heard from since, but he’s back at the 2023 WSOP, and he’s proving his mettle once again by busting Event #53: $1,500 Millionaire Maker DAY1-A for 326,000 chips.
Event #53: $1,500 Millionaire Maker EVENT is one of the hottest events at the WSOP, breaking last year’s record of 7,961 entries and creating a total prize pool of $10,627,935.
2022 Yuliyan Kolev from Bulgaria is the first player to be crowned a Millionaire Maker after beating out numerous competitors.
Yuliyan Kolev took home $1,125,141 for the win.
The 2023 $1,500 Millionaire Maker event is expected to draw more than 8,000 entries, surpassing last year’s 7,961 entries with 4,575 entries on Day 1-A.
There were 1012 entrants in DA2 today. Reiji Kono made it to Day 2 with the 14th most chips overall, and there is a lot of interest to see if the Asian champion can make a run at the Millionaire Maker.
The event attracts players from all over the world, including WSOP Main Event winners Ryan Riess of the USA and Martin Jacobson of Sweden, as well as PokerStars Ambassador Alejandro Lococo, and everyone’s Millionaire Maker dreams are still in play.
